The strong genetic foundations of high-yielding,
proven-performing FS Seed Corn hybrids have been selected for
incorporation of other insect-protection and weed-control
(herbicide-resistant) traits, giving farmers more production
solutions than ever before. Choose from these options of trait
combinations in our winning FS Seed Corn line up. YieldGard Corn Borer: With protection against European and southwestern corn borer, hybrids with this trait consistently produce more bushels per acre than non-Bt corn. In addition, overall plant health is improved and disease risks are reduced. YieldGard Rootworm: Built-in control guards against damage caused by corn rootworm feeding. Growers will see reduced pruning of roots that can interfere with water and nutrient uptake, leading to stunted growth, delayed crop development, lodging and yield loss. YieldGard Plus: Combined protection from European Corn Borer and Rootworm feeding in one hybrid. Roundup®Ready: Yields are maximized with broad-spectrum weed control and excellent crop safety. Roundup Ready corn contains an inherent tolerance to Roundup WeatherMAX™ for excellent flexibility due to a wide window of application. Roundup® Ready/ YieldGard Plus: Broad-spectrum weed control combined with protection from European Corn Borer and Rootworm feeding. YieldGard VT Triple™: The latest technology available, combining second-generation YieldGard VT Corn Rootworm protection and YieldGard Corn Borer with the Roundup Ready Corn 2 System for post emergence weed control. CLEARFIELD® Production System: Grain produced with the CLEARFIELD Production System is approved for sale among all major grain buying nations, as it is considered a non-transgenic technology. With the use of Lightning® herbicide, growers gain excellent residual control of grass and broadleaf weeds. YieldGard with Roundup Ready/CLEARFIELD Production System with YieldGard Corn Borer: Stacked hybrids offer all the same insect protections and weed control benefits as single traits hybrids, combined in one crop. Herculex I and Liberty Herbicide:
A Bt event that protects corn from a broad spectrum of insects,
Herculex I offers protection against against first and second
generation European corn borer and southwestern corn borer. In
addition, it protects against fall armyworm, black cutworm and
western bean cutworm. Herculex I Insect Protection also offers
herbicide tolerance to Liberty herbicide when applied over-the-top
in accordance with the label for Liberty® herbicide.
A unique farming situation may call for agronomic characteristics of proven performance. The traditionally-bred hybrid, to be planted for refuge, can share the same genetic platform as the insect-resistant hybrid. The agronomic similarities between the two strengthen the overall combined performance of both IRM acres and insect-fighting acres, and allow for a close harvest window. Using a range of maturities and incorporating diverse agronomic genetics across your whole operation are long-proven methods of spreading risk, and this continued practice is recommended. When selecting hybrids with incorporated traits, keep in mind that a different technology does not necessarily spread risk.
To assist you in selecting hybrids to either spread risk or implement an IRM plan, we have identified those hybrids with genetic similarities throughout the comparison pages. When a hybrid shares the same genetic platform with other hybrids, including traditional or added traits, a list of those related hybrids is shown. This chart summarizes hybrid relationships in the FS Seed Corn line up - Isoline Relationships (.pdf).
